Catalysis and Operando Characterization (CATOC)

CATOC research focus on establishing fundamental insight into structure-functionality relationships of catalysts through operando and in-situ studies. We develop and apply operando methods that can elucidate the relationship between the catalytic performance of a given catalysts and its overall morphology. These methods comprise both electron based ((S)TEM and SEM) as well as x-ray based (XRD and XAS) methods. We are highly focused on sustainable catalytic systems and that includes attaining a fundamental understanding of established catalyst systems (e.g. CuZn for methanol synthesis) as well as development of new catalysts e.g. binary and ternary intermetallic alloys for e.g. CO and CO2 hydrogenation.

The group activities are tightly coupled to the research activities at the SURFCAT section (Headed by Prof. Ib Chorkendorff) and the DNRF Center of Excellence VISION (Headed by Prof. Stig Helveg) at DTU Physics through Christian Danvad Damsgaard’s joint affiliation.
